Mining Technologies & Innovation are two areas I have been learning more about since starting UG Mining Tech. The website has become and exchange for new ideas within the underground mining industry. Only a few months back I attended the first large scale face to face mining conference here in Perth since the COVID-19 lock down period (AusIMM UG OPS Conference 2021). This event taught me so much about the industry and acted as a real showcase for those looking to connect in the busy Australian underground mining scene.
AustMine 2021 will now deliver a similar face to face convention for the wider mining market including those in underground, open cut and processing technologies. The event, with support from main sponsor BHP, aims to deliver new innovative ideas to industry through a series of speakers, workshops and ideas exchanges. It is great to see several friends of the website – mainly Andrew Rouse (Head of Innovation at Pybar) and Ben Johnson (Managing Director at Team Agency) presenting as speakers at the event.
The event follows on from the successful Brisbane 2019 event which allowed 1200 attendees to network, learn and explore with their mining industry peers. This time there will be less of a global pull, due to ongoing travel restrictions, yet attendees from all corners of Australia will be at the Perth Convention Centre from May 25th – May 27th.
The featured product list for new and innovative ideas that will be on display at AUSTMINE has given me many products to follow up on and learn more about. For example the Schlam Bullant Underground Tray looks an interesting after market solution for trucking fleets. Hopefully, I can share this and more with you in the second half of the year.
