Sandvik – AUTOMINE® Concept (the future of underground mining machines?!)

1 Mins read

If you like mining technology then this video will whet your whistle – Sandvik have been working on a top secret fleet of underground machines. The underground loader (bogger) seen here is the start of a “driverless” fleet of underground machines. In time larger scale underground mines with clearly defined ore bodies could increase safety and productivity whilst saving on staffing costs using these systems. These design ideas and future thinking could push Sandvik out in front in the race for increased underground automation?

This video really highlights the progressive thinking that will allow underground miners to move toward more automation and efficiency in time. It would be amazing to see a mine designed around a system like this that was then powered by renewable energy, lets see what the next decade holds!
